Mary Hauser hasn't added a story.
On December 6th, Brett Fladager, Dani Bode and Kristen Kennedy will be traveling to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. They will be working in the critical care unit, 24 hours a day, teaching critical care nurses to care for and manage post operative cardiovascular adult and child patients. They will be traveling with the Voom Foundation. The Voom Foundation is an international medical humanitarian organization created by Vincent Ohaju in Duluth, MN in 2004.
Patients in the hospital who undergo surgeries are not allowed to leave the hospital until their bill is paid in full. For example, during the last trip a 4 year old girl was in a motor vehicle accident and suffered a scalp laceration that needed a skin graft. The graft did not take and she was in need of a second surgery. The family was unable to pay for the surgery. She was discharged from the hospital and was not allowed to leave. She had been at the hospital for 7 months before the volunteers from Voom arrived and paid her bill and for her additional surgery.
All of the funds raised will go to support the patients and pay their medical bills. Any contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Brett Fladager, Dani Bode and the Voom Foundation.
