When I was 14, I was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma. I remember feeling violently alone and scared. I felt like adults wanted to fix me but not listen to me;  they did not hear why I was scared. I was a problem to be fixed. Now that I am an adult, I intend to do something about this feeling. The result is the "Even Superheroes need help" campaign. At any one time there are up to 35 children living on the CCBD floor at Children's Hospital. They are too sick to risk leaving the hospital to go home. The floor, that room, is their home. They are scared and alone. The superheroes program intends to help that. With the help of 3 local artisans, we hope to bring light to their dark world. All 3 artisans are cancer survivors in their own right and understand the emotions these children have. Our doll maker will be making superheroes for each child ( with the goal being the 35 on the floor currently). I will be writing the book that goes with the dolls and a third artisan will be doing the illustration. Each child will recieve a unique doll and book combination that is not available anywhere but here. The hope is that these gifts give the children hope and strength to continue their fight. This is also why we are asking for donations. Making the dolls and publishing the books is not cheap. Can you find it within your heart to bring light to a child? To give them hope in the simple form of a book and superhero doll? Is it worth it to you to give up some of your wants in life and donate to a child in need? We sincerely hope so. We also hope this takes off and becomes a national trend. Even superheroes need help- that is what sidekicks are for!  Please, donate now! I have included a picture of my son and his "Jack Sparrow" doll done by the artist as well as a "tick" doll, which looks superhero-ish)
