Flynn is 13 years old. He has Ehlers - Danlos Syndrome. The collagen in his body is faulty, meaning his joints dislocate frequently and his tissues and internal organs are far too stretchy. His mobility is limited and he needs to use a wheelchair when out and about. Walking is agony with dislocating hips, knees and ankles. His shoulders dislocate numerous times an hour, even when just sitting or laying down. Flynn is in pain all day, every day, and he takes Codeine and Co-Codamol in an attempt to control it as it can be unbearable. He has gastrointestinal problems and POTS. POTS is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and has many symptoms. In addition to this, he has a problem with his mast cells which send him into a widespread allergic reaction, some even send him into anaphylactic shock. We carry antihistamines and Epipens wherever we go. He also has asthma, eczema and frequent migraines. He tires quickly, is often in agony but he rarely complains. Flynn can no longer manage going to school with his friends, it is too exhausting and the dislocations were too frequent for him to learn anything - he is now home educated. It is getting more and more difficult for Flynn to get around and use the stairs, so I'd like to get him a stair lift so he can maintain some of his independence by being able to use his bedroom. Ehlers - Danlos Syndrome is not recognised as a disability so we do not receive funding for equipment that Flynn needs. Please help if you can.
