I'm Paul Roberts, a photographer working in Palm Springs, California and Wichita Falls, Texas. I have 31 years experience and have been published three times. I specialized in Real Estate but have
now branched out to portraiture (my first love is photographing people), weddings, pets, concerts, and sports. I also offer digital editing/enhancement, business cards & profile pics for social media (avatars). You can view my work at

I have recently upgraded my equipment from 2 older Nikon bodies & 2 lenses (both suited to architectural photography) to THREE new, much improved, higher megapixel & now NOISE Nikon bodies ... and THREE lenses. This cost $7,000 of my OWN money. Done. Spent. Funded :-)

These improvements have given me equipment that goes beyond the scope of architectural photography, and I'm happy to say I'm getting MORE work in fields other than Real Estate due to it. There is one more lens to ensure I can cover all situations including lowlight nightclub & portraiture, the Nikon 85mm / 1.8G. The cost of that lens is roughly $525 when you can find them; Amazon seem to have the best supply and that is where I will be ordering from, as I have for the other equipment. Couldn't be HAPPIER with Amazon's shipping & quality of the goods received.

The other requirement at this point, to improve workflow, is a faster laptop. Mine is 5 years old, runs Linux, works terrific because of its Lubuntu operating system having low "load" on the machine. I have written my own plugins to address digital photography anomalies, and not having the drag of Windows speeds up editing. However, it's a 4GB of RAM, 1.6GHz machine, and I really do need (at this point) an 8GB RAM Intel7 chip machine. This NEW laptop, running Linux, would be fantastic and speed up editing. Usually I take 40-50 shots of a job, which required 7 hours of editing on Windows. Linux brings that down to 4, and the faster machine would probably halve that (especially for RAM intensive operations like denoising, despite the fact the new bodies have virtually no noise I still like to check).

So this request is (roughly $1,100 including external mouse) for the laptop and $540 for the lens & shipping, total $1540. I will use the 85/1.8 on an existing body for now, until I can attain the full frame Nikon D600 through paid jobs. I'm not including this here as I believe that would inflate the "absolutely necessary" funding amount to $3600 ... too much, in my opinion. These 2 items above are the ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY equipment at this juncture.

I would be eternally grateful for this funding, and you can either be "anonymous," or I will thank you personally on my social media platforms Twitter, Google+, FaceBook, Pinterest & Instagram. I really would like to thank you PERSONALLY and have your name known for your gratitude; however I will not publish if you wish to remain anonymous. If you provide an email I will be more than happy to send you results of the new lens and laptop processing, so you can see the difference & quality of the images obtained with your own eyes.

*** Donations of $200 or more will receive a signed 8x10 print of the best photo I've ever taken, a black and white concert portrait of Elton John. I have never put that image online, or sold a print of it, but it's magnificent and I'd love you to have it as a token of my thanks. ***

Thank you in advance, and very best regards.

In my opinion the BEST photograph I've ever taken, of Sir Elton John in concert, 1987 ... black and white with amazing contrast & highlights. It has never been put on the web. I will optionally sign and number it for you, also.
