My name is Danielle Annarose Fudge, and I am a dancer. I am seventeen years old, and I am a senior in high school. I have been dancing for twelve years. I am trained (and currently training) in over twenty different styles of dance, including every thing from ballet to break dancing to African and everything in between. Dance is my life and my passion. It is my escape. When things seem to be crashing down around me, I go to the dance studio and dance it out. It is also my way of expressing my feelings. Sometimes words can not express what I am going through. I enter into a class or performance and leave my heart on the dance floor. Dance has kept me sane through these past few years with losing loved ones and friends. My grandma died on August 29, 2012. My grandma was one of my inspirations to start dance. She actually started tap dance at the age of 72. My grandma came to watch one of my dance performances several years ago. (I was in The Nutcracker as a little snowflake.) My grandma started talking to the performer who played the Arabian princess after the show and fell in love with her. My grandma told me that that would be me one day playing that part. Ever since, I’ve been working for that. Her passing away crushed me, but I had to move on. I have dedicated this year of dance to her. Every move I make, every breath I take on the dance floor is for her. In the future, I want to become a professional dancer. The road is full of ups and downs. Competitions/conventions are the perfect preparing grounds for a professional dance career. They give dancers experience working with world-renowned choreographers and dancers. Dance competitions/conventions help build up mental toughness also and give dancers a feel of what rejection feels like, and it is done in a safe and controlled environment. However, competitions/conventions are not cheap. The following is a break down of the cost for one competition/convention year: 4 conventions/competitions at $500.00 each = $2,000.00. Choreography and costumes = $600.00 Total (per dancer) = $2,600.00. If you add $400 for necessities such as replacement dance shoes, (and the fees for raising the money) that means I need $3,000.00. I would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to help sponsor me. Every little bit of money helps. Thank you and God Bless, Danielle A. Fudge
