Dominican Starfish Foundation hasn't added a story.
Ernesto Silverio lives in the Dominican Republic with his wife and 2
children.
Karen-Smith
Webb visited the Lifestyle resort and met Ernesto who is a waiter
there. She contacted Dominican Starfish Foundation to tell us of his
situation. He has been working for 10 years to build his home. 10
years!! And it is so unfinished.
Karen
is older and a widow but has committed to donate $100 a month until
the home is finished. That would take another 5 years. I don't want
the family to have to wait that long. I know there are others who
will match her donations and do what they can to help him.
This
photo was taken in Amarilis' home with the $100 Karen sent. Another
thing he told Amarilis that really impressed me is that when his
friends invite him to go out for a drink, he always declines in favor
of feeding his family and perhaps getting a few more bricks for his
home. The resort pays only $6 for a waiter to go to a BBQ. He often
works his 8 hour day, waits and does a BBQ if possible and hopes for tips.
Ernesto lives an hour drive from the resort so it is time-consuming and costly to get back and forth to his job.
This is how his home looks now after what we have done to help so
far.
Please help if you can so we can get this young man's home built quickly. If we can raise the money, Dominican Starfish Foundation will pay the extra for transportation to take our workers out there to finish the home quickly. THANK YOU!
