Sarah Lively-Roland hasn't added a story.
From Arts Wife Vicki Sumeracki
Almost two years ago, I finally married my best friend. On September 12, 2017 our lives forever changed. I woke up expecting my husband to be at work, instead he was still in bed. Every conversation we had led me to believe something was terribly wrong. I rushed him to the emergency room and three hours later, I was told my husband had a massive tumor in his temporal lobe that extended into his frontal lobe. My husband was life evacuated to Royal Oak and we waited for the Neurosurgeon and ENT Surgeon to formulate a plan. Multiple CT Scans and MRI’s were performed. We were then informed it started in his septum and spread to the frontal lobe and temporal lobe. On September 15, 2017 my husband had multiple ocular strokes and was slowly dying. The Neurosurgeon wasn’t available, so his Physician’s Assistant made a lifesaving call to a different Neurosurgeon, who happened to be making rounds, as luck would have it. I was told my husband needed lifesaving, emergency surgery, we didn’t even have an hour to spare. I asked if they would be trying to remove the tumor and was informed that this was not the objective of this surgery, this was only to save his life, as his brain was under intense pressure and they needed to relieve the pressure. Six hours into the surgery, my husband’s ENT Surgeon, found me in the family waiting room and said he heard that my husband was having emergency surgery and that he had already spoken to the Neurosurgeon and wanted to know if I’d let him go do his part, so we could change this from lifesaving emergency surgery to a complete tumor dissection. Twelve hours later, I was told everything went very well and things were looking up but due to the ocular strokes my husband currently has limited vision and we were told not to expect this to improve. I brought my husband home on September 21, 2017. On September 24, 2017 my husband went in for another emergency surgery due to a major blood clot in the frontal lobe. While my husband is still in the ICU and we have a long road ahead of us, he is currently stable. On September 28, 2017 we were informed that he has Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma (SNUC) .
