How can YOU help a child with disabilities in Tanzania reach their potential? With the GIFT of a LIFT! We're raising money to buy a wheelchair accessible van so children in our program can get to school, therapy and even jobs! More ...

 A Gift that Changes Lives

In Tanzania, a country with few paved roads, a long rainy season and no wheelchair accessible transportation, the gift of a lift can make ALL the difference.

This holiday season, YOU can make a lifelong impact RIGHT NOW. Your gift from large to small can help these wonderful children grow, thrive and enjoy health, hope and happiness!

The children and young adults served in Mosaic's Tanzania program, Building a Caring Community, need transportation. We're raising money to purchase a wheelchair accessible van.

Why do we need this vehicle?

Consider these facts:

  • Without transportation many children who use wheelchairs cannot get to day centers during Tanzania's rainy seasons (in both the fall and spring). Few paved roads and thick mud paths make it impossible for wheelchairs to get around outside.

Even the best areas are nearly impossible for wheelchairs to navigate during the rainy season, leaving many children and young adults unable to get to the day centers.

  • With transportation these children get consistent therapy , hot meals and the care they need at our centers.

Children who use wheelchairs are often unable to get to centers for therapy and nutritional supports during rainy season.

  • No public or private transportation systems are wheelchair accessible. The vast majority of children in our program come from families who struggle with extreme poverty and do not have a vehicle. Without transportation, parents have no way to get their children who use wheelchairs to our centers and to the help they need.

Public transport and private microbuses, called dala dalas, are not wheelchair accessible.

  • Without transportation, young adults with disabilities aren't able to work and learn new skills at our community farm or in other cooperatives, simply because they often live many miles from the opportunities we provide.

  • With transportation, young adults can join in all of the vocational and employment programs we are building. They'll be able to learn, be involved in their communities and even earn wages through these programs.

Young adults will soon have the opportunity to work on the community farm or in coops, but need transportataion to get there!

  • Without transportation, children with disabilities will not be able to attend our inclusive education program when it launches in 2015.

  • With transportation, these children will have the opportunity to attendthe FIRST inclusive education program in a public primary school in the region, make friends with children both with disabilities and without and be on the road to even greater success.

A new inclusive education program will launch in 2015, but children need trnsportation to benefit.

Won't you help those we serve reach their potential?

It's an easy way to make a HUGE impact. Please join us in changing lives for children and young people we serve.

TOGETHER, WE CAN GIVE THEM THE GIFT OF A LIFT!
