Dear Friends and Family,

This small fundraiser is being established in hopes to obtain financial support for Shirley Jean Brown-Plymale 'Jean', as her life has abruptly taken a turn for the worst.

On Friday, June 6, 2014, around 4am, Jean's husband, Parker Plymale was transported by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. He complained of shortness of breath and chest pain. He was out of town, working with his brother, Larry.

During an initial assessment emergency room physicians discovered that two of the major arteries in his heart were completely blocked, and some that were partially blocked. They immediately began a procedure to place stents in his arteries.

He was given epinephrine for low blood pressure, and all seemed to be going well. However, Parker suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest. For over 25 minutes nurses and healthcare providers gave chest compressions (CPR) before eventually regaining his cardiac rhythm (pulse).

After bringing him back to life, doctors conducted open heart surgery on Parker and realized he had a considerable amount of fluid around his (otherwise healthy and strong) heart that needed to be drained immediately. As they went in to drain the fluid more complications became evident.

Parker's kidneys were in Acute Renal Failure causing a build-up of toxic fluid in his body. They also discovered that his liver was not functioning as well as it should. He was immediately placed on continuous dialysis (CRRT) for his blood and a ventilator for his breathing. He has progressed minimally over the days and remains in critical condition.

The doctors were confident when they informed Jean that Parker may not survive beyond Saturday, but thanks to many prayers he has.

Just as Jean began to find a sliver of hope, on Monday a CT image (CAT Scan) of Parker's chest suggests that he may have Stage IV lung cancer. A sample of the large mass in his lungs was obtained during a lung biopsy and sent off for testing.

Parker has been fighting hard and will hopefully pull through the dialysis treatment without having another heart attack. Jean is now mostly worried about long-term financial stability due to Parker's long road of recovery and the likelihood of him being permanently disabled. This is assuming that cancer doesn't take him out of this world in the coming weeks or months.

We have asked God to bless Parker's strength and will to fight, for it is now in His hands. Thank you for your support and prayers. -Plymale Family
