While doing Project Minnie, my project to feed homeless pets with homeless parents at Venice Beach, I met Trixie. She is a little 14 pound dog who has big ears, gentle eyes and is as sweet as can be.  Her dad is a homeless man who lives in an old broken down RV and has no financial resources.

Trixie Needs Hernia Surgery

Trixie needs surgery to fix an inguinal hernia. The hernia has caused a large mass (intestines and fat) to hang from her lower abdomen. If untreated, it could result in an obstruction in her colon or it could twist, cutting off blood flow and causing part of her colon to die.

Please Donate

Trixie's pre-surgery examination cost was $450 and the doctor estimates the surgery will cost approximately $3,800-4,700.Trixie is a wonderful girl who deserves to live a long and healthy life. Please help me raise the funds to get her the surgery she needs.

Thank you for your help. It means so much to Trixie and me.

About Project Minnie

Every Sunday, we go to the beach and provide dog and cat food, collapsible water bowls (made possible by donations from generous supporters), leashes/harnesses/collars, information about vet care and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to homeless people with homeless pets.

Project Minnie was inspired by three special individuals:

-My cat Minnie, the love of my life and the sweetest soul you'd ever meet. To know her was to love her.

-Clutch and Feather, who were homeless. Clutch was standing on the side of the road with a sign asking for money. His beloved Feather was by his side. I stopped to talk to Clutch and give him a few dollars. He explained that the money wasn't for him, it was for his dog, Feather. Although he had no home and slept in a tent, he said he didn't need anything because he had food stamps. But, food stamps cannot be used for dog food, so he needed the money to buy food for Feather. Clutch and Feather only had each other in the world and asked for so little. It made me realize that pet parents struggle to provide for their furry companions and could use a little help.
