In January of 2012, after 6 months of testing and starting therapies, Killian was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We were scared, because we didn't know. Life moves on, we have dedicated our time to him with so many therapies and take home therapies, consistently working with him. There have been amazing people in our Killian's life who have helped us along the way, the people of the children's therapy unit at the local hospital, the BCBA who comes to the house, and the local community program that is now celebrating its 50th anniversary in helping children with special needs that is called SPARC (Skagit Preschool and Resource Center).

SPARC has been an amazing organization for Killian and us as a family. So many times I smile and see how far Killian has come and their help in therapies and offering programs for the families. This year, instead of raising funds for Autism Speaks (they do amazing things also), I would like to help give to SPARC and help them continue with ease for another 50 years. Please consider giving a donation, even if only $5, every little helps.

Killian is an amazing kid with an infectious personality that is nothing but happy all the time. This month, don't think of Autism Awareness as the need for a cure or any other fix-it type mentality, instead think of it as an opportunity to learn something about these exceptional and amazing people. Read a book (I recommend "Why I Jump"), read an article in a journal, there is so many things I bet you didn't know.

If you give this year to my campaign, know that your money is going to an amazing organization that is doing so much good for young children of all types of disabilities and disorders. Autism may not effect someone you personally know, but this program goes beyond autism.  Last year, in only two days, with your help I was able to raise just shy of $1,400.00!!!  How amazing that was!!  This year I hope to raise $2,000.00.  Thank you for your time and supporting our cause.
