Cupid's Bridge Animal Rescue hasn't added a story.
Life isn’t easy. Last Saturday, we received a call from a lady who had a simple request…”Please help my pets”. For her protection, and the protection of her children, we will not be able to show pictures or use real names. We will call the lady, Jenny.
Jenny’s life has had its ups and downs. Jenny is a disabled veteran who has experienced some very difficult times in her life. Jenny has been in Oklahoma for 7 months and is doing her best to provide for her children and her pets. Because she refuses to “put down” her pets, she has had no choice but to live at a homeless shelter until a home can be found where she can keep her pets. Jenny gets up every day and takes the city bus to a location where an individual is allowing her to keep her pets crated in a garage. Jenny is only allowed to visit the pets once a day for 30 minutes and the lady has told her that she wants her to get her pets out now!
In July, Jenny started calling rescues and asking members of her church to please help her pets. It was always the same response “put them down”. Then someone gave Jenny the phone number of a member of Cupids Bridge Animal Rescue. After listening to Jenny tell her story, the first words that Jenny heard was “everything is going to be ok. WE are going to help you”. The only thing you could hear was tears.
Within 24 hours, we had met Jenny and her family, including her pets. It has been 4 days since we got Jenny’s pets out of the poor conditions in which they were living. The cat and guinea pig are in good condition, but Jenny’s dog, who we will call Tuff, needs some serious medical attention. Tuff is a 9 year old pit bull whom Jenny has had since he was 5 months old. Tuff is emaciated, has whip worm, is losing his hair and teeth, has cuts on his face and has a large hernia on his back end.
Most of the time we hear stories from people who want to get rid of their pets because they messed on the floor, chewed up a shoe, or a family member developed allergies to them. This is the story of a lady who has given up everything just to keep her pets and agreed to give them up if that was the only way to save them. We are going to make sure that Jenny’s pets stay right where they belong, with Jenny! Our rescue is asking for your help so Jenny and her children can see that there are people who care about them AND their pets.
This is what a rescue does….this is Cupid’s Bridge Animal Rescue, but we can’t do it without YOU.
