Vital information about Jewish Service Order and Music is being lost.  Archiving would preserve our history and give our descendants valuable information about Jewish worship practices by their forebears.  Increasing congregant enthusiasm by sharing effective service strategies with each other is another positive outcome.

My own experience writing my master's thesis is a case in point.  Written documentation was virtually nonexistent for 1945-80 except for Annual Confirmation programs which were preserved at the Oregon Jewish Museum in Portland. Adequate discovery time, unavailable for students with graduation deadlines, will hopefully reveal more material.

Creative Jewish professionals frequently discard the lists not realizing their worth.  I am hoping that this site will inspire them to scan and upload their work before it finds its way to the wastebasket.  Synagogue administrative staff often make hard choices on what they save and how they spend their time.  How marvelous if they could give historically significant material to a virtual museum when space in synagogue files is limited.
