Thorfin is an almost 8 year old Great Dane who had to have emergency surgery his family cannot afford. He had to be rushed to emergency this morning around 3 am because his Mom and Dad noticed he was acting strange-hypersalivating, abdomen distended, and he kept trying to vomit, but wasn't producing anything. X-rays showed that he was suffering from Gastric Dilatation Volvulus(GDV), or bloat/gastric torsion. Thorfin needed surgery asap to decompress his stomach, flip it back the proper way, and attach it to the abdominal wall trio to prevent future torsion. The first emergency hospital was great, but didn't have a surgeon available so Thorfin was transferred to another local Ann Arbor Veterinary Emergency hospital where they could perform the life saving procedures. Unfortunately, the financial cost there was too high for his family to afford. They lost their 9 year old Great Dane, Nesu, this last November to osteosarcoma. The costs from that combined with having two little human children and another Great Dane Lexi, left very little money to help Thorfin. He was transferred one final time to Wilson Veterinary in Washington Township where they were able to greatly reduce his fees and still give him the care necessary. His medical bills are estimated to be a total of around $2700+ with no further complications.

HIs family loves him and can't stand the idea of losing another family member!
