Lucky and IVDD are two words that are usually not strung together in recue, but Elf might be the first to get to use them.

This sweet boy came to DRSF in December as a stray from the street of Miami and quickl found a home for a short time, but he came back to us as he was not a match and as we worked to diagnose some pain that he was feeling, we came to understand why he might not have fit in.

After further evaulation, our last option was to bring him to Dr. Anwer at Southeast Veterinary Neurology who performed an MRI after wich Pam received a call just before 7 AM on Monday letting her know that Dr. Anwer had no idea how Elf was still standing and walking due to the condition of his back.

There was no time to waist, and Elf went right from the MRI into surgery where Dr. Anwer worked through a very severe case of IVDD, and Elf is now resting comfortably at SEVN.

While IVDD is never a "lucky thing", just two short weeks after Pancho's 20th IVDD Surgery for the DRSF Family, Elf is now added to our IVDD Surviror list as lucky number 21, and the luck continues for this sweet boy as we have had an incredibaly generous donor pledge $1,000 for his surgery, which brings us down to $2,000 that we need to raise.  Will you help us help make 2014 the best and most loving year of Elf's sweet life and help us fund his care so we can be ready to help the next doxie who will need us shortly??
