I'd like you to meet Gracie ,age 7. We are trying to raise money to help cover some of the cost of a van conversion .The van is Gracie means of transportation to her many doctor and hospital visits. The conversion is also so that Gracie can go places such as parks, vacations, play dates and where a typical child would go, but for her she is wheel chair bound and her power chair weighs 280 pounds and can not fit in a typical van.the cost of the van can be financed but most lenders will not allow for the 18,782.00 conversion. So therefore has to be paid. Here is a lil about Gracie...she and her twin sister were born at twenty weeks she weighed just at a pound, she spent much of her first year in NICU.while in the hospital she had many surgeries , including heart surgery, brain surgery, 3 intestinal surgeries and so many more. She had many medical issues, she was put up for adoption, parents were told she would not talk, walk, crawl, sit up etc, at the age of three she began to prove doctors wrong, since she couldn't get up to play her play was learning, she began to learn all her letters, numbers, sounds etc, she started talking, reading, playing trying so hard to take steps with the aid if many medical devices, Gracie just got out of the hospital this afternoon with her twenty fourth surgery. Gracie is pretty much a typical child in so many ways, she just can't get out of her wheel chair and walk or run and play, her only mobility is her power chair, sure she can be pushed in a wheel chair but when you see how she lights up when she can get into her power chair, go out side, shopping , to parks and play with all the other children, it is amazing to see! Gracie is one of six children , she is loved by everyone her family tries to carry her and let her pretend to walk and dance the best way she can, but as she grows its getting harder. Trying to tell a 7 year old that she can't take her power chair when leaving the house is such a let down and is so disheartening ,that's exactly what the family has had to do for so long. She got her power chair years ago and could only use it in her own yard, just this year has had the opportunity to experience taking her chair and having the mobility to drive it to doctors, school, hospitals, friends etc. we would like to make this a permanent fixture in her life. Help us raise the funds to go along with the families to cover the cost of the conversion THE MOBILITY for this sweet lil girl who is determined to live life to the fullest.
