LOKI'S DREAM
This is a story about a dog named Loki and the dream he has every night about his friends who aren’t as fortunate as he. Today Loki has a wonderful home, a granny and grandpa who love him dearly, and canine siblings with whom he can snuggle and play. He spends his days chasing bugs and snakes with his sister in his big back yard and eagerly awaits his granny’s return home from work each morning. Much beloved by his granny, she calls him her big lug-nut, this big love bug didn’t have such a great beginning to his life.

One stormy, thundering night about four years ago Granny was performing her duties as an Animal Control Officer. As she patrolled a park she came across a box from which she heard small, faint whimpers. She looked inside, and to her dismay, were eight very young and frightened puppies huddled together for warmth and comfort. Granny immediately picked them up and rushed them to a local veterinary hospital for evaluation and necessary treatment. Unfortunately, two of the babies had already died, but there was one of the survivors that caught her eye. Pointing at the most beautiful pup she had ever seen she told the vet tech who was nearby, “I want that one.” So ever since that night Loki has been living the life every animal deserves, but he has the same recurring dream each night. He wants all of his animal friends who have been abused, neglected and abandoned to have the same kind of happy life.

Loki envisions the day when there is no longer a market for puppies sold in pet stores in the United States. Then, and only then, will the suffering endured by tens of thousands of companion animals in puppy mills and high kill shelters throughout the United States cease to exist. Our goal is to safely rescue and manage as many animals in emergency situations as possible.

• We envision being a not for profit, no kill shelter run by volunteers open to all breeds of dogs, cats and horses.

• Transport of the animals to their adoptive families will be provided.
• Adoption fees will help to offset the costs associated with running the shelter.

• To be advocates for animals.

• Through the work of dedicated volunteers, fosters, local veterinarians, trainers and boarding facilities we will be able to rescue hundreds of animals in need, provide them with loving care until we are able to place them in well screened and well matched loving forever homes.

Loki and his family have found this wonderful piece of property in Cripple Creek, CO that would be perfect to make Loki’s dream come true. It has almost 30 acres of useable land with existing out buildings that can be upgraded and used for climate controlled shelter for the animals. In time, more building can be added. However, in order to get this property, the seller is asking for $10,000 down and $2200 per month. The monthly lease can be covered, but we need to somehow come up with the $10,000 so, in part, we are relying upon your generosity to make Loki’s dream come true.
