We have had several cases of Parvo in pups pulled from 2 NC shelters. These pups had negative test results outside the shelter prior to arriving and/or after arriving in foster.

First wave, arrival 3/6: Didi, a tiny 3.9 pound terrier mix girl, passed away the morning of the 2nd day of treatment, only about 6 hours after actually showing her first sign of Parvo (we diagnosed from a blood test). Bo ended up in the emergency vet with his new family. He developed pneumonia and succumbed to cardiac arrest after 5 days of fighting valiantly to survive. The vet bill was over $2,000.

Second wave, arrival 3/8: Nine heeler mix pups from a second shelter, all kenneled together, vetted and all tested negative for Parvo outside the shelter. Placed in an empty foster home. Five days later, Aurora, pictured above, tested positive and had to be humanely euthanized as she was suffering. The same day, Belle was tested as she showed signs of lethargy and also showed positive. The day after, Cope tested Parvo positive. Both have finished the 5 day course of injectable meds and subcu fluids. We've now begun oral meds for both babies. Belle appears back to normal, while Cope is bring hand fed pureed chicken, rice and broth - a few cc's every couple hours by oral syringe- along with an immune system booster and some NutriCal, until he decides to eat on his own.

We have incurred enormous vet bills treating these sick babies. We ask for your help in raising money to pay the vet bills for these pups, including a contribution toward Bo's emergency vet bills.
