SEACOM’s network consists of multiple subsea cable systems that connect Africa to the internet. Our network provides services into key interconnection points in land-locked centres and countries across Africa.

We are supporting the TREK4MANDELA initiative. TREK4MANDELA was established in 2012 when Richard Mabaso of Imbumba Foundation and founder and visionary of Caring4Girls and TREK4MANDELA overheard a fearful conversation between his mother and his niece on menstrual challenges. This got him to take action and inspire change through establishing the TREK4MANDELA expedition to create awareness on the plight of underprivileged girls in rural and poor schools during their menstrual cycles. The ethos of Mandela Day is “Take Action Inspire Change”.

A team of six SEACOM staff will be joining the TREK4MANDELA Kilimanjaro expedition on 21 July. This is aimed at raising awareness around our fund raising for the Caring4Girls initiative. The team members are; Lizaan De Jong, Kelly Crofton, Suveer Ramdhani, Albie Bester, Sibusiso Khanye and Carmen Cupido.

For our project SEACOM has adopted Aurora Girls High, a secondary school based in Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa. We will be supplying each of the 1 200 girls at Aurora with sanitary products for a year. This is our way of reaching out and touching the lives of each of those girls and providing them with confidence to continue their education.

With your donation you can help change the lives of the girls from Aurora Girls High.
