"GET, YOU MANGEY MUTT!"
...i have a name
Frightened and escaping the only home she ever knew, this sweet little girl probably never saw the car that struck her. Her rail-thin body was thrown in the air, coming to rest on the side of the road in a ditch. Terrified what just attacked her may come back, the little dog with all her might, tried to stand, but no amount of strength could lift her back legs and make them work--her pelvis had numerous fractures.

Later that afternoon, two Good Samaritans driving into town, noticed the little speckled bundle of fur laying in the ditch. Carefully they approached her and found her severely injured, but still alive. She had not the strength to even whimper. Gently they lifted her and placed her in the back seat of their car and rushed her to a local Vet. They hoped and prayed they were not too late.
...i have a name
For three days, this little angel drifted in and out of consciousness, waking only briefly when a technician checked on her incisions and administered medications. She suffered not only the broken pelvis, but internal injuries as well. On day four, her eyes opened a little wider, her light--a little brighter, and began taking small amounts of food. The Staff was relieved and hopeful of her recovery.
...i have a name
This little hound has been in confinement for almost two weeks now, but she is healing. Only able to stand for a few seconds at a time, she is slowly regaining her strength. She will lose her tail, but any dog lover knows that a dog is not measured by the length of it's tail, rather the size of their heart, and this girl has a big one. She still receives IV therapy to keep her hydrated and is under the close watchful eyes of Staff. While she has a long way to go with physical therapy to regain full use of her hind legs again, we are confident that she will make a full recovery. With kind hearts and donations from our Community, we can continue with her recovery and know this little girl has brighter days ahead.
The Giles County Humane Association would also like to take this moment to thank a very special friend, T.B., from Fremont, Ohio. You know what we do is bittersweet--we try to save all that we can. We hold tight to the images of those we must leave behind and let them be the guiding force inside us to keep pushing harder and make a difference in the lives of so many. We cannot do it without people like you. Life is a beautifully woven tapestry of chance encounters and intercrossing voyages. Your loss and generous heart found us, and we are so grateful to have crossed paths with you. Because of you, this little girl has a head start on a rewarding life in a loving home with people who care. Because of you, this little girl finally has a name, and all of us, including her, want to thank you.
...i finally have a name...
T.B....we want you to meet "Bambi"
