OK, it's like this.

I'm running the Greater Manchester marathon in April next year. Which is exciting, for a number of reasons:

1. Running a marathon.
It's been on my 'to do' list for a number of years, mostly to see if I can actually run 26 miles 385 yards (or 42.195km for the weird metric fans out there).

2. Beating my old Dad.
Ah, yes, the old family rivalry. Having not played him at badminton in over 15 years since beating him <once> and wanting to remain reigning champion, I have his marathon PB of 3h 30 time in my crosshairs, knowing that at 65 he's not likely to better my time if I beat it mwahahaha.

3. Hillsborough
Most importantly, though, every penny raised will go to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign.

In 2012, just 23 years late, the (Tory) Government finally admitted that Liverpool FC fans weren't to blame for the death of 96 people at a football game. The question now is, if it isn't the Liverpool fans' fault, then who's is it?

The Justice Campaign is STILL pursuing this question through various court cases, and I hope they don't rest until those responsible are bought to justice.

If the few pennies raised from me hauling my sorry arse around Manchester can help towards the court case costs in whatever tiny way, then it's well worth the pain and blisters gathered over the next 6 months.
