Melissa Cummings hasn't added a story.
Albert L. Raymond, was diagnosed with leukemia in winter of 2011 after loosing his father. He then started chemotherapy and his first treatment put him in the hospital for 6 days. He fought through them for 6 more months, focusing on his family and how very much he loved them, missing his " Father" immensely. In Fall 2012 he found out he was in remission with no sign of his cancer, life was looking better. Then in Aug. 2013 not even 8 months later, out of the clear blue sky he finds himself having to fight for his life as his treatment worked too well and he will soon be facing a stem cell transplant necessary to save his life. He was in the 2 % of people this could happen to. His bone marrow was depleted and the cells left behind are not the " loving kind ". More tests, more bone marrow aspirations, more Dr. visits, more lab work, blood transfusions and now a search for a stem cell donor. He is still fighting... each week now he has to have a blood transfusion while his stem cell transplant team works on getting him ready for his procedure. The possibility of facing chemo again as part of that plan. Now with medical bills mounting, he has tried hard to keep working with his wife doing the things that require exertion but his doctor tells him he " needs to be kind to himself". He is running on half the blood most men have in their systems. He finds out his sister is a perfect match and we have hope. Financial counselors in Boston are telling us that a stem cell transplant can cost between $100,000.00 to $350,000.00. He wants to live and like it or not he needs your help to acquire that means. He'd never ask otherwise, he is too humble. He has always been an honest, hard working, family man, a man who loves his work and is proud to do it, helping and giving to others, a fighter, a survivor, a responsible member of society who wants nothing more then to live and continue the life he has chosen. But this time he has to lay his pride down and ask ... " Will You Help Me To Live ? " We, his Family join him in his request because we feel he deserves that chance. He has worked since he was 17 and done everything he could to support his family and now when it is his turn, life walked in the door and threw down " the challenge " , with your help he will fight again and he will win for him, for us, his family and friends, for his " Father " and for you.
