Alyssa Dunsirn hasn't added a story.
Once upon a time, there was a strong, healthy high school football star who learned that he had a rare form of bone cancer. The community of Marshall fought the cancer with him, supporting him both emotionally and, as much as they could, financially. Happily, the boy survived the initial diagnosis; unhappily, about six years later, he is still fighting for his health and an opportunity for a normal life.
Once upon a time, this boy had two younger sisters. The elder of the two sisters was in middle school at the time of the initial diagnosis (the younger, in preschool). Since then, she has faithfully supported her mother by acting as translator as doctors tried to make life and death medical facts comprehensible to this 12-year-old girl so she could translate them into Spanish for her mother. In January, this girl graduated high school early; she has been accepted into Edgewood College with significant financial aid. Instead, she took two jobs to help supplement her mother’s income.
Recently, doctors determined that Brother needs a kidney transplant. Sister, now 18, was first in line to volunteer one of hers. While she is a match, it was decided that Sister’s kidney should be saved for a later date; Mother will be the donor.
Soon, Mother and Brother/Son will undergo this transplant. Sister is consumed with doubt that she will be able to physically, emotionally, and financially support her family while both Mother and Brother convalesce.
Anyone able to help is encouraged to pray for health for this beautiful family. If so compelled, financial donations are being accepted via paypal!
