Friends and family of a needy family from West Portsmouth is reaching out to all community organizations and available funding sources. The Ruark Family would like to introduce you to Isaac Ruark. Isaac is a highly intelligent, very warm-hearted 4 year-old boy. Isaac has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy that keep him wheelchair bound. His father, who is a Veteran, works 40 hours a week, and his mother is a full-time student at Shawnee State University. This family scrapes together just enough money to keep their bills paid and food on the table for their two children. Because Isaac's father works for a living to support the family, almost all government assistance is denied due to income, or those programs available have waiting lists miles long.

Isaacs’s mother loves to take him out to enjoy the sun and socialize with other children, but their porch has become rotted and is just short of falling in. The danger of the porch and lack of supply funding keeps Isaac inside. Due to this burdensome task, friends and family of the Ruarks are banding together to build this very special child a new porch with a ramp so that his home can be handicap accessible--Isaac can once again leave his home without burden upon his family.

Lowe's has agreed to donate the materials needed for the team to build the ramp. As any person that has done home repair knows, this is not a cheap task to take on where labor is concerned. We are asking for any support that our community is willing to give. If you would like more information or you have questions, please contact Tim Hunt at (606)922-9000. Checks can be made payable to Build It For Isaac.

Thank you,
Team Isaac
