On January 14, 2013, tragedy struck the Garcia/Gamez family... Gina, the youngest of Debbie's two daughters was in a horrific car accident..She was the passenger in the vehicle.. And her side took all the impact.. Gina suffered a fractured pelvis, bruised lungs, fractured bones on the left side of her face, and a severe brain injury. Dr's had little hope that she would make it through the brain surgery.. let alone the night.. Then the first three days.. And said that if she did.. There wasn’t much hope of getting the same Gina back.. Gina is in therapy every day to get back to Gina.. She is doing GREAT in her therapy and at times doesn't want to quit.. Gina is having to learn to do everything all over again.. She has learned to sit up and balance herself again.. and she is walking now.. but they are still working with her that.. The simple tasks we do every day she is having to learn all over again.. She has come a LONG Way... But she still has a long road ahead of her..

Gina was a VERY independent young lady before her accident.. Gina had her trache removed on April 23.. And has made noises.. But not really yet has spoken... Gina will also be facing another surgery to replace the piece of skull that was removed to allow for swelling and the get to the brain injury to remove the blood clots along with part of her brain that was damaged in the accident.

This isn't the first time tragedy has struck this family.. When I met Gina's mother, Debbie.. Her husband at the time.. was fighting colon cancer.. Sadly Luis, was called home.. When his body could no longer fight.. Gina & her sister Alisha were young then.. They weren't even teens at the time.. They will overcome this battle as they have had to deal with the loss of their husband/father, with lots of prayer & support!!

If you would like to help the family out in any way.. I do know there are financial needs.. As they travel to New Orleans to stay with Gina while she is in inpatient rehab.. Meals and other needs while there with Gina.. They are also having to remodel Gina's home to make it safe for her to come home to when she is released.. I know there are many other financial needs that come along at times like these as well..... And to care for Gina when she is able to come home. Gina also has three small children to care for.

Please like & share Gina's page and possibly leave notes of encouragement & prayers for the family!!
