Resonance
Resonance is a climbable bamboo queen conch shell that transforms sound, light, and movement into a shared ritual experience.
Standing three stories tall and built entirely from bamboo, it is an immersive structure designed to be explored, a playground for movement and a gathering space for deep, reflective listening.
Participants enter, climb, pause, and listen as sound and light shift around them, turning the structure itself into a living instrument.
Resonance will debut in Black Rock City before becoming a permanent space for art, music, and collective ritual.
Why Resonance Matters
Resonance invites us into balance and harmony with nature and with one another. It reminds us that we are not separate from the rhythms that shaped us. The spiral form reflects life’s cycles of growth, change, and return, and demonstrates what is possible when we build with natural materials.
Constructed entirely from bamboo, a rapidly renewable and carbon storing resource, the installation shows how regenerative materials can support new possibilities in architecture while inspiring more responsible ways of building and revealing the beauty and complexity of organic form. By creating a powerful work at monumental scale, the project helps expand global awareness of bamboo as a material for the future.
Resonance also uplifts people and community. Through curated sound, shared participation, and collective creation, the project highlights Indigenous knowledge, amplifies BIPOC and LGBTQ+ voices, and brings people together through collaboration rooted in care, purpose, and shared effort.
Resonance is an invitation to listen, reconnect, and help shape a future where creativity, community, and the living world are honored as one.
