Kelly Sizemore-Hall hasn't added a story.
May 30, 2014 Robert was involved in a freak motorcycle accident in which he was only in first gear and on a back road in West Virginia. He was trying to get around a mud hole and his tire slipped in a rut and he had no where to put his foot to catch himself. He and his motorcycle rolled down a steep mountain and immediately Robert knew he was paralyzed when he stopped rolling. He spent 2 weeks in a hospital in Charleston WV and then was tranported to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta GA, where they specialize in spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Robert spent 2 months in the Shepherd Center where they helped him get control of his pain, gain strength and hope. He is a C4 quadriplegic, with no use of his hands, abdomen or legs.
The day before discharge from the Shepherd Center Robert began to wiggle his toes. He was told then that he qualified to stay for their day program and work on the lokomat. At that time Robert was home sick and really wanted to be home for a while with his daughter who is 14 and starting high school. He has been home going on 4 weeks now and is getting ready to start out patient therapy here in WV. In the last 2 weeks Robert has discovered that he can flex the muscles in his right leg and can barely move his leg. God is still healing Robert and with lots of prayer and funding to do the therapy that he needs he may walk again one day.
Items needed are a wheelchair accessible van to get him to the therapy he needs, manuel wheelchair for when he is strong enought to get out of the power chair and a bathroom remodel to help his family with bathing. With your help we can accomplish these things to help in his recovery.
