The Center for Special Education (Centre d’Education Spéciale or CES), is a non-profit Haitian NGO that has been assisting impoverished children living with disabilities for the last 38 years. CES recently learned that their school building was to be demolished as a part of a downtown urbanization project. Fortunately for them the students were on their summer recess so the staff and director hastily packed their belongings for fear of having everything looted. School commences in September and their new building will not be ready until December. CES is in desperate need of finding a temporary venue (preferably located in downtown Port au Prince) where they can resume classes until they are ready to move into their new facility. Many of these underserved kids live in poor communities which are located near downtown Port au Prince. Therefore it would be tremendously helpful if they could locate a venue that is in downtown Port au Prince. This campaign is to try and secure a venue pro bono or otherwise. There are very few schools for handicapped children in Haiti. CES is the only school that provides free tuition for poor families and free rehabilitation and medical treatment. Please do what you can to make sure these poor handicapped kids have a school to go to when school begins again in September.
