To my friends, colleagues, or even if you just stumbled across this page. I want to describe to my amazing mother. She has one of the biggest hearts ever. No matter how brief your encounter with her is, you’ll be guaranteed 3 things:

  1. you will be fed, not just a simple meal, you will receive a feast of food you have never heard before and actually enjoy it!
  2. She will always leave a positive and lasting impression in your life, I guarantee it.
  3. Her artistic talent is uncanny. I remember her looking at an item in a store she liked and thought was overpriced, she said “I can make that!”, We said “Ha, Sure, you have no idea how it’s made!” A few weeks later my brother and I were put in our when she presented us with it.

She is a very strong willed woman. She has sacrificed a lot to make sure my brother and I had an amazing life in Canada. Our mother would go above and beyond not only for us, but for all our friends without judgment like they were her own kids. She drove my friend of mine to the hospital after we skipped school and got a little too drunk.

Timeline

2 years ago my mother was diagnosed and beat Uterine Cancer!

Feburary 2014 – She was admitted to hospital with stroke like symptoms and a strong persistent cough. She lost her ability to communicate and had very little strength. She calls this her “Forced Vacation”

March 2014 - It was soon discovered that Uterine Cancer had spread and formed tumors in both her lungs and brain. One particular tumor in her brain was bleeding and causing the issues with my mom’s speech and mobility. “Extended Forced Vacation”

April 2014 – My mother underwent Brain surgery and Toronto Western to stop the bleeding in her brain. She slowly regained her strength and ability to speak. Well I would say more than speak. My mom is a loud talker so it was more like she regained her ability to yell. Seriously, if you had no idea where my mother was in the hospital, just stand in the corridor and listen for her voice, you won’t miss it.

May 2014 – The doctors informed my brother and I that the tumors have spread too much in her lungs. Treatment would not take if they attempted it. They told us she only has a limited amount of time… to be honest, I don’t have anything quirky or funny to say about that…

My mom’s address since March was Toronto Western Hospital. Now she is has been admited to Palliative Care. In that time she has not been able to work. My brother, who has done a tremendous amount of work that one cannot fathom, and myself, who has been working overseas and providing financial support, are now looking to you for help.

We want to bring my Grandmother and My Uncle from Venezuela. As of now, due to rampant inflation and all major airlines cancelling direct flights to Canada, travel out of the country has become incredibly expensive. My brother and myself are able to accommodate my mother here, however trying to pay for my family to come has proven above our budget.

I want to bring my family and My mother has not seen them in over 6 years. Our goal is 7,000 CAD.

This will cover the costs of Visa Applications, return flight, food and accommodation. Cancer is scary, we have amassed an incredible group of friends, however my mother now needs her mother and yes, her brother too for her last moments. Any little bit can help towards our goal and we will be very grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to meet my mother briefly. She may not be able to make a meal for you right now, but she will make you feel loved.
