Lisa Di Michele hasn't added a story.
Today I saw a story of a woman who has the opportunity to receive a pill that has shown promising results in the potential curing of hepatitis c. The medication is administered in the form of a pill with a course of treatment usually lasting 12 weeks.
Awesome news isn't it?????
The problem is that either one, simeprevir or sofosbuvir, for this 12 weeks....an unbelievable $55,000 (per Sovaldi maker for treatment in Canada)!!! Not covered by medicare and good luck to you if you have no insurance.
This story breaks my heart because through no fault of her own, this woman contracted the disease via a blood transfusion. Brenda Peever from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Grandma of six.......
Just because the government does not see fit to pay for treatment or somehow regulate the absurd costs of new potentially life saving drugs, does that mean we should not try to do something?
Please donate what you can. We want to cover at least Brenda's treatment and the site fees...everything beyond that....we will find the next person who needs help trying to survive the ridiculous cost and bureaucracy of this.
