Tina Lee hasn't added a story.
Beautiful young Isabella has been through a lot in her short life and it is showing in her behavior. This poor girl is in desperate need of rehabilitation.
Isabella was found on the street with a belt tied around her neck. The wonderful couple who found her couldn't leave her there so they took her to the vet to see if she was microchipped, she wasn't, so they got her rabies shot and had her tested for heartworm. She was positive. Very emaciated and in all around bad shape the couple took her to their home to try to find either her owners or a new forever home. They reached out to Dog Days after not being able to locate the origional owners and Dog Days agreed to take her under their wing. Before someone could even get out to assess her temperment Isabella surprised everyone with a litter of 7 beautiful puppies (all but 1 have found their forever homes). It was so sad to see how emaciated this girl was, so skinny the vet couldn't tell she was pregnant and about to deliver 7 pups! Her body couldn't sustain herself and the whole litter and she pushed 2 out. Bottle feeding the 2 started but one of the babies didn't survive the night.
Just days after the pups were born, Isabella slipped through the door from her room and attacked one of the couple's senior dogs. No one was hurt but the couple was worried that she would end up hurting someone so they put their dogs in boarding to give the rescue time to find a foster home for Isabella and her babies where there were no other dogs.
After looking frantically the rescue found a foster home. Isabella and her family were moved and the couple was able to bring their dogs home.
The new home had children for Isabella to play with and a yard to run in. This was a short lived home though. The rescue was called to move Isabella that night!
Again, frantic, the rescue was able to find yet another dog free home for Isabella to raise her babies in. This home lasted for 3 days. The foster quickly became tired of cleaning after the babies. The rescue was called and given less than 24 hours to move the family yet again.
Fortunately, the rescue was again able to find a place for Isabella to go. This foster has been amazing with Isabella and her babies but the experience has been very trying on Isabella. She is very untrusting and anxious now. The babies have been weened and gone to forever homes but Isabella is still in desperate need of help. Both physical and emotional. Still very skinny and frail the rescue can not begin heartworm treatment. She has regular (weekly to bi-weekly) vet visits to monitor her health. Her anxiety is eating away at her. She barks and runs laps, barks and runs, barks and runs. She is only calm when she is crated but has managed to break out of every crate that has been tried. She injures herself running. She doesn't slow down for walls, she literally bounces herself off of them and spins around to continue running. Obviously, heartworm treatment would kill her while she is in this state of mind.
After a lot of searching, praying, hoping, emailing, and counsel Dog Days has found a place that has helped many other dogs with emotional, behavioral and physical ailments. It is a rehab facility in Virginia called Welcome to Forever Home Rehab. The cost of the program is $1500. Plus transport from West Georgia to the facility. There are still many vet visits and heartworm treatment along the way. As a new rescue, Dog Days does not have the funds to handle this but refuse to give up. This is, very likely, Isabella's only chance to live a normal, healthy, balanced life.
We beg of you, please help us help Isabella if you can. We are truley afraid she is going to kill herself without help and we have exhausted everything we know to do. She has been through so much in her short life.
