Hello,

Many of you already know my name and my story. However, for those of you who don't, My name is Jacklyn and if you don't know my name you probably know Patty's name. Patty is my beloved friend and horse. I got Patty as a birthday present as a very young child. I told my mom I wanted a "Brown and White Horsey" and that was exactly what i got! For those of you who don't know, I have owned patty for 19 long and wonderful years! She taught me many things throughout those 19 years. She taught me how to ride and take care of her, how to love, and most importantly she taught me what it feels like to be loved. We've came across many accomplishment and tribulations throughout our friendship. I always asked my Principal in elementary and middle school if i could bring Patty to school for "show and tell" ... the answer was always, "No." However, my last year in Middle school my principal allowed me to bring Patty to school and share with the school, teachers, and all my friends the horse who I never seemed to stop talking about. But, this wasn't the last school Patty went to! I somehow managed to convince my high school principal that I should bring Patty to school for a history project. The answer, to my surprise, was "Yes." So, off to Lakewood High School Patty went. I tried to take Patty everywhere with me. We would ride down to the hot dog truck, we tried to go to McDonalds, and sometimes we would just ride down the road. I never got into much trouble as I was always at the barn. I did my homework there, I helped out around the farm, and I sometimes even slept there. Patty was my life and she still is. However, as I grew older, So did Patty unfortunately. She was diagnosed with chronic laminitis at 15 years old and arthritis in all four legs by 17. Later, she had a freak accident in her field and a nail went through her left eye. She had to go for emergency surgery and have her eye removed. This was a very big change for her. She became spooky and often ran into things causing further injury. Two years later, she started losing control of her hind end. She couldn't walk straight, she fell over countless times, and this is when she stopped meeting me at the gate. It hurt her to walk, not to mention she would circle when she tried to walk. I started meeting her in the field for feed time as she no longer go excited, as the pain of walking wasn't worth it any more. It broke my heart seeing her in so much Pain. Over the Past couple months Patty has lost a lot of weight. she is sunken in and you can see every rib and bone on her body. No matter what I feed her or the amount of food, I cannot keep weight on her. I believe she is giving up and that I am being selfish by keeping her alive. She has long lost her spunk and is withering away in a field she once frolicked and galloped through. Unfortunately, it is very expensive to euthanize a horse and also expensive to have someone come and remove the body. Most Equine Vets in my area want cash up front and I don't have $600.00 dollars lying around. If any of you have ever met Patty, or ridden her, Please help her.  I am writing this to ask for any donations to help my Best Friend and horse be relieved of her endless pain. Please help Patty.
