RLCNH PAC hasn't added a story.
Obamacare is the gateway drug to socialism. The legislation went into effect last October, and the consequences have been devastating.
The Facts:
- According the a CBS Poll, 84% of Democrats want Obamacare changed our repealed
- According to a Gallup Poll, only 42% of Americans think that healthcare is the governments responsibilty (down from 59% in 2000)
- In New Hampshire, of the 11,446 newly covered under Obamacare, 72% are receiving subsidies.
- In order for Obamacare to be economically viable, at least 40% of the 18-34 crowd must sign up for Obamacare. Currently in NH, only 22% are signing up.
- Nationally, only 2.5 million have signed up for Obamacare and 79% of those are subsidy eligible.
- Over 6.5 million have signed up for Medicaid (which we pay 100%)
- The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) gives the government the authority to do bailouts. There is already talk of a $1 trillion bailout for insurance companies.
The RLCNH's Role:
The RLCNH has been actively involved in stopping this Obamacare expansion since before the special session. We have met with Senators, worked with other experts on developing free market alternatives to Obamacare, traveled around the state meeting with groups to explain the legislation, and have generated significant media outreach and exposure.
The only way Obamacare expansion passes in New Hampshire is if the Republican Senators vote for it. We need your help to make a final push in February to stop this legislation in its tracks, and to unify the Republican Party towards a wave election in 2014.
Our Plan:
1) Stop Obamacare Pledge: We have developed a very simple pledge that we want all Republicans (whether currently in office or candidates) to sign:
"I hereby pledge that I will not support the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) in any form, including, but not limited to, expanding Medicaid in New Hampshire through the use of Federal funds, regardless of how those funds are allocated."
Almost every Republican Candidate for US Senate, US Congress, and NH Governor has signed the pledge. You can see an updated list at http://stopnhincometax.com/stop-obamacare-pledge/.
We are now trying to get as many state Republican Representatives and Senators to sign as possible. If we get 12 Republicans in the State Senate to sign and abide by the pledge, Obamacare expansion in NH will be defeated once and for all. So far, two Senators have signed the pledge. You can see the updated list of Senators who have signed the pledge at http://stopnhincometax.com/republicans/.
2) New Hampshire Liberty Tour: We have been traveling across the state meeting with activist groups and Republican Town and County Committees in an effort to spread the word and begin recruiting candidates for 2014 with a unified message of limited government that starts with the defeat of Obamacare expansion. We just launched the second leg of the tour and will be on the road most of this month. You can see a running list of all of our events and follow our progress at http://www.nhlibertytour.com.
Here are some of the events:
- Rand Paul event with FreedomWorks: The RLCNH co-sponsored an event FreedomWorks with over 150 attendees. Speakers included Senator Rand Paul (via Skype), State Senator Andy Sanborn, Dean Clancy (VP of Healthcare Policy at FreedomWorks, and Aaron Day, Chairman of the RLCNH). At this event we lauched the pledge and had 6 candidates for US Senate and US Congress speak in opposition to Obamacare expansion.
-
Tuesday, February 6 @ 7pm
RLCNH Chairman Aaron Day will speak at the New Boston Republican Committee event along with candidates for US Congress Marilinda Garcia and Gary Lambert
-
Saturday, February 8 from 8am-4pm
The RLCNH will participate in a candidate training event with the Leadership Institute and Americans for Prosperity
-
Monday, February 10 @ 7pm
85 Main St. Plaistow.
Join Aaron Day, the new chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of NH, as he presents a response to Obamacare expansion plans by both the Democrat-controlled House and the Republican-controlled Senate, plans that all residents of NH should oppose. Both plans increase our state’s reliance upon a federal government riddled with trillions in debt and plagued bureaucratic inefficiencies. Both plans will lead to a New Hampshire state income tax. Neither plan actually improve health outcomes for the poor but both will increase healthcare costs and taxes for everyone.
-
Wednesday, February 12 @ 6pm
RLCNH Chairman Aaron Day will speak at the Belknap County Republican meeting
Top of the Town Restaurant
Belmont, NH
-
Monday, February 17 @ 7pm
RLCNH Chairman Aaron Day will speak at the Mount Washington Valley GOP meeting
The Lobster Trap Restaurant
2840 West Side Road
North Conway, NH -
February 2/20-2/22
RLCNH Chairman Aaron Day will speak at the New Hampshire Liberty Forum
3) Partnering with other organizations: The progressives have done a significantly better job of coordinating their activities. The RLCNH is building partnerships with groups like FreedomWorks so that we activiate our supporters quickly and efficiently.
4) Media outreach: On this Obamacare expansion issue, we have received significant press coverage in the Union Leader, Concord Monitor, Nashua Telegraph, WMUR, Bedford Path, Truth in Media, Granite Grok, and others. We continue to write OpEds and develop video content to reach a larger audience.
