Mercy had to have her baby in a hospital. The delivery was difficult and her baby was kept in the hospital for three days after her birth. Now the baby is healthy and growing, but Mercy owes $10,000 for her hospital care. She is staying with a generous friend, but she has no money, no work, and no income.

Mercy arrived here from Europe as a sponsored live-in nanny. She is originally from the Philippines, where her child lives with his grandmother. She worked in Europe for seven years to make the money to come to Canada and to support her family back home. Her husband visted her whenever he could; usually twice a year.

When Mercy arrived in Canada, told her new employer that she was expecting a baby, and that's when her life started to fall apart.

Mercy's employer withdrew her sponsorship and she also annulled Mercy's healthcare coverage, which meant that her prenatal and delivery care would be paid out of pocket.

When a woman applies for the Canadian government program, she never knows when she will be accepted. Her pregnancy was not planned but she wanted a brother or sister for her child back home.

Mercy is looking for a new sponsor. She has arranged for her baby to be cared for while she works. She wants the best for her family and her new baby. She is in danger of deportation (back to Philippines, where life is even more difficult that ever because of the typhoon) and she is desparate for that not to happen.Baby Girl

When Mercy finds a sponsor, her healthcare coverage will be reinstated but the bill cannot be paid retroactively. Mercy and her children are looking to become active, responsible and useful members of Canadian society. Help give them a chance! Your donation will make a huge difference to this small family!!
