Orlando Aponte Alvarado hasn't added a story.
On Halloween, 2013, “Lady Raven of Manchester” and her “Daddy”, Orlando, have plans for a huge celebration of life; an anniversary of sorts, a happy day, to acknowledge and toast to their chance meeting, 1 year before, to the day.
But life, though, can change in an instant, much like it did for both of them on that Halloween day, last year, when Orlando found tiny Raven - his soul-mate of the furry kind - on the corner of where he lives in Miami, tied to a pole and left to somehow fend for herself. She was a “FREE DOG”, according to the handwritten piece of paper taped up next to her.
That “chance meeting” changed everything for these two. Unconditional love had finally found it’s way into both of their hearts. Life was good.
Well, change has found Raven and Orlando once again and the plan to celebrate their one year together as “pet and pet parent” will have to wait. The celebration has been instead, over-shadowed by a serious and critical fight for life..Raven’s life! And, this fight, I'm afraid, comes with a deadline and it’s less than 24 hours away.
See, on Thursday, October 17th, while in route to Raven’s very first “Yappy Hour”, she was somehow spooked, causing her to back out of her harness from fear. Without hesitation, she ran onto a busy street and was struck by a passing car. The accident left Raven with a broken pelvis, shattered bones and a severely bruised body and Orlando with an empty, shattered heart.
Four days, Two Veterinary facilities and one Orthopedic Surgeon later, Raven’s medical needs have been estimated at over $6,000. Orlando has given the hospital everything he was able to, but it’s not enough to move forward with any medical procedure and the money runs out for Orlando in less than 24 hours.
Tomorrow - Monday, October 21st, Orlando will be forced to remove Raven from the veterinary facility. There will be no surgery performed to fix her broken little bones so she'll walk again, and there will be no more relief administered for her unimaginable pain. Tomorrow morning, Orlando will be forced to carry Raven out of the hospital the very same way he carried her in. Their future together will remain uncertain.
Please help us help Orlando and Raven. We are very close to meeting
our goal of $6,000, but we have less than 24 hours until the
hospital’s deadline for payment.
Whether $5.00 or more, your
donation towards Raven’s medical care will be an amazing gift and so
greatly appreciated.
Beautiful “Lady Raven of Manchester” saved Orlando’s life in
many ways ,just one short year ago... ...please help us to save hers now.
Oct 26: Update, Lady Raven of Manchester did have her surgery, but the costs has exceded what was first quoted and post surgery costs were not included in the initial fee. We are still short $3000, it is our hope that we will be able to raise the funds and Lady Raven will full recuperate in 6 months. Thank you so much for your generous donations.
Update: Rupert Fawcett from "Off the Leash" has offered to gift a lucky Donor a signed cartoon print for your generous contribution and the gift of life for my baby. Once goal has been achieved we will randomly select a Donor who will be gifted this amazing cartoon print. Thank you so much! Goal is to raise the money to pay back the money that is owed to others. This is not a scam. If you need additional verification, please contact me personally. Thank you.
Update Nov 8. Name of Hospital is on the bill, but here it is: Miami Veternary Specilaists. 305-665-2820, 8601 Sunset Drive, Miami, FL 33143.
