Hi everyone,

As you all know I am currently working and volunteering for a company called Salaam Baalak Trust. The Trust is a non-profit Indian organisation which provides support and homes for street and working children in Delhi.

I can't stress enough what incredible work they do here and am privileged to be having the opportunity to work with such amazing people for such a good cause and getting to spend everyday with these beautiful children.

It's come to my attention that the home is in desperate need of donations and I would really love to help as much as possible. One of the boys at the Trust called Nat has a condition where his feet are backwards. Since I've been at the home he has walked on his feet and obviously from a young age got used to the fact his feet are backwards but it now seems he is in the process of getting this fixed in the last week. Both his legs are currently in casts, which means that he can't walk at all, so the other boys in the home carry him to and fro, even to go to the toilet. The boys are the same age if not younger than Nat.

Normally Nat will be socialising with all the other boys and is involved in all the activities, but since he has had his legs in casts I haven't seen him at all and when I have he's just sitting in one spot, not able to go anywhere or join in with anything. It really is heartbreaking.

The other day when I was teaching a small group of boys at the home, another boy came in carrying Nat. An older man that helps to run Aasra asked if I knew anyone that would be able to buy him a wheelchair. He said that it would cost less than 6000 rupees which is the equivalent of £60...Such a small amount of money in our eyes, whereas here it's a fee that is just not possible to spend on just one child, even though this wheelchair is an absolute necessity for Nat.

This amount of money obviously isn't a great deal and you might wonder why I can't donate the £60 myself, but I thought it would be great to raise more than the amount for just a wheelchair. I think the fact that they can't even buy essentials shows how much they are in desperate need for donations.

Please, if you can give a donation big or small, anything and everything would be appreciated. This boy is an absolute angel; even though he struggles on a daily basis with the simplest activity of walking which we all take for granted, he always always has a smile on his face, he has such a happy spirit which is just lovely to be around and he deserves something to make his life a little easier. It would be fantastic if we were able to raise enough money for this and more for the Trust and it's worthy cause.

Thank you so much in advance,

Ali xxx
