Steven Mages hasn't added a story.
I won't be riding for a Arenacross team this coming season. I was recently told there wasn’t enough budget to go around to fit me on the team this season. Over the summer I wasn’t able to run the Outdoor pro national scene because I had a bigger plan, A Looking further ahead plan. My plan was to find a weekly full time job and race local on the weekends to fund my fall/ early winter training for this upcoming season. So far, I’ve been able to make this happen after a long summer of Training kids, Racing, working for a Tree Service Company and working with my cousin Nick. It wasn't the easiest Job but a blessing itself for keeping me active while working. Last season's training was a differently story. Last season's training I was sleeping on a couch in a garage in Georgia for two months living off a microwave. This season's training after a long summers hard work and local racing, I recently just drove cross-country (2,500 miles) to Carlsbad, California. This alone is a dream come true. Now, I am training 7 days a week and riding 2-3 days a week. I would love to be at the track more but with gas expenses and only one bike, it can be expensive and tough on my 250f. I will be out here training until December 18.
January 3rd will be Round 1 of this year’s series. I have plenty of amazing sponsors backing me with the product needed, but product alone won't get me the fuel I need to make the races or a hotel room to sleep in between the cities. From start to finish, the AMSOIL Arenacross season will cover 13,400+ miles, visiting 12 different major city and states between California and Massachusetts in a 3-month time frame. The 13,400+ mile season will take over 2K+ gallons of diesel fuel to finish. Without a team ride and enough traveling support, this would be impossible for someone on their own.
I'm not the best at asking for help, or am I the best storyteller, but I have the faith that some way ill be at each round, every weekend. The most inspiring thing to sum all of this up is, Matthew 19:26. "But Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, But with God all things are possible." This verse just tells you that Jesus himself directly said "with God, all things are possible." All things. After going to church every Sunday that I wasn’t racing, I realized that God has a even bigger plan for me than I had in mind at the beginning of the summer. He wants me to win for HIS Glory. So on the podium i can say "Without the Lord, I literally wouldn't be here, Without the Lord I wouldn't have the support and sponsors I have. I wouldn’t have anything."
Even though the riders are the show, the pro Arenacross athletes don’t race for free. The AMSOIL Arenacross Series is a highly expensive motorsport series. When it comes to traveling, lodging, food, rider entry fees, season credentials, and fuel for transportation. As fast as you can make it, your spending it gambling on your next finish. I’m making this account to ask for your help and support in making a dream come true. I find it even more of a testimony to say I didn't do it by myself; I did it by the faith and works of God.
Thank you for reading!!!
