We hope you will feel our cause to help Shawn Hall is worthy of your kindness and whatever donation you can give.
For those that don't know Shawn Hall or have never had the pleasure to meet, he's just a quiet, easy going nice guy that works hard and lives a simple normal life; that is up until about 8 years ago.
We write this to introduce you to our friend, brother, son, nephew and just a great guy who needs your help and support to get through this next and hopefully final stage of his battle to obtain a Liver Transplant.
A young guy, now 35 and a 1996 graduate of Chardon High School, Shawn has unfortunately been battling Non-Alcoholic Liver Disease as well as severe Colitis, all stemmed from Rheumatic Fever in 2004. Tests have also confirmed early stages of Rheumatoid Arthritis and several other auto-immune related issues, all of which have just exacerbated much of his pain and side effects. He continues to have recurring issues with the Colitis, in which the possibility of a Colostomy is a constant concern.
After recovering from the Rheumatic Fever, it was assumed that he was past this and went back to work for the Berkshire Schools as a Custodian and on with his life, working two jobs and spending summer weekends as part of a pit crew racing cars.
In 2008 Shawn and a deer met "eye to eye" and wrecked his truck, fortunately not hurt too badly. He was taken to the hospital to get checked out just to be sure. It was this standard battery of scans that found his enlarged liver. After two more years of countless tests and visits to University Hospital, he was finally diagnosed and introduced to the Liver Transplant Team and told that he must prepare for a transplant.
Shawn has been strong and wants to get through this, but it's getting tougher each day as his symptoms continue to increase and his strength to continue working is diminishing. He had been working at Heather Hill as a Floor Technician, trying to maintain his health benefits up until recently. They have been extremely understanding of his illness and time off for treatments, and for that we thank them. His doctors think it's time to slow down now, so it's today that we reach out to our friends, family, co-workers, and all of you soon to be friends that will find it in your hearts to contribute to our cause to deLIVER 4 SHAWN.
