– Positive Change: Lighthouse 2911, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving parents and youth throughout Texas, the nation and abroad, today announced the launch of its “Search for 1 Million Dimes” fundraising campaign. The effort will support the PALS (Positive Attitudes and Life Skills) leading the way program, as well as starting to acquire office space for LIGHTHOUSE 2911.

1 million Dimes will help the organization offer more than seventeen different programs and help fulfill the organization’s annual budget.

“We strive to bring down gang violence, improve family relations, improve school attendance, decrease teen pregnancies, decrease substance abuse, and build future leaders for our churches and our communities,” said LIGHTHOUSE 2911 Executive Director Paul Beard.

Why Dimes?

During more than sixteen years of community outreach, the group has fittingly “coined” the acronym S.T.R.I.V.E. Beard explains its meaning: Start small; think possibilities; reach beyond your known abilities; invest all you have in your dream; visualize miracles, and expect to experience success. “Every person is like a dime. We’re all valuable in God’s eyes—everyone counts!” he said.

Starting small is at the core of LIGHTHOUSE 2911 history. The dedicated work of two women answering the call to help youth in the south Texas area grew quickly, and today, LIGHTHOUSE 2911 serves as a beacon of hope for families around the world. The organization has served over 650 youth and families and thousands more through its Internet program in the last six years.
