I have been lucky enough to be assigned to volunteer at Baan Unrak Children's Village. As a volunteer I would like to present them not only with my time, but a reinforcement to help them keep providing a healthy stable life for the women and children they provide for. Baan Unrak, translated from Thai as "House of Joy", is a children's home and community development project in Sangkhlaburi, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. Their biggest project is the children's home, which provides a loving home, food, medical care and education to over 130 children from Thailand, Burma, and the neighboring Mon or Karen States. In addition to the home, Baan Unrak founded an accredited primary school in 2004 in order to provide formal education for our children. The women's project is aimed to address the many issues faced by destitute women along the border by providing vocational training, jobs and English lessons to single mothers and women. These are women and children rescued from human trafficking, abuse, slavery, drug abuse among many other issues that is inhumane. They are a non-government, non-religious, non-political community development project aimed to provide humanitarian aid to those in our community who most need it. The Neo-Humanist philosophy is the guiding principle of our project. Simply stated, we believe that we should love and care for all beings in the universe. Be apart of this change! Every bit helps. You can have Starbucks, tomorrow.
