Hi, My name is Kaitlyn Chelberg. I am going into 8th grade at the Oak Harbor Christian School. I keep my grades at A’s and B’s. I understand the importance of education and I love to run. I have been running since 2008 and have loved it since the day I started. Since beginning running I have competed in Cross Country and Track. Each season ends with the Junior Olympic developmental series. This year in track I ran the 100meter hurdles, the 200meter hurdles, the 4x800 meter relay, and the long jump. I qualified to go to regionals in Bend, Oregon in the long jump, the 4x800 meter relay and the 200 meter hurdles. I did not qualify for the 100 meter hurdles because I had triped over the first hurdle and fell behind but I got back up and I was determined I wouldn’t come in last and I didn’t. I caught up with the girl who was in front of me and I passed her on the last hurdle. This past weekend I competed at the Junior Olympic Regional Championships. In Oregon it was 90 degrees out and on the track it felt even hotter. We all had to stay really hydrated and in the shade. Only the top 5 make it to nationals, which is in Baltimore, Maryland (July 24-29). I walked out onto the track for the start of our race. I was a little nervous because it was my first year of doing hurdles. When I finished the race I had come in 2nd. I ran a 31.46 finishing 2nd in the 200 meter hurdles. I was so happy I qualified for Nationals. I failed to qualify in the long jump. My 4x800 relay team finished 1st, unfortunately not all my teammates can go to Baltimore so I will not be able to compete in the relay. When I went to my mom she very excited for me but then told me I might not be able to go because of the money expenses. I told her that I really wanted to go no matter what I had to do. So now I am trying to raise money so I can make my trip to nationals. Mom estimates it will cost about $2,200. I would appreciate any amount of money you could donate to my trip, no amount is too small. Believe me every little bit helps! Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a great day! -Kaitlyn Chelberg
