It’s time to rev our engines for 2024! Thanks to you, we exceeded our 2023 target, giving 64 kids the #Power2Play. This year, let’s get 70+ kids with movement limitations racing! Give Kids the Gift of MovementGeeks for Kids is an initiative of LEARN, a small, all-volunteer nonprofit with a big dream – to give kids with mobility challenges the #Power2Play. With the help of volunteers and donors like you, we build mini-race cars for kids who otherwise can’t get around on their own. Join us in the campaign to get these kids racing! Give Kids Like Gigi the #Power2Play!Imagine what it would be like if your child could not race around, explore and play. What would it cost your child’s physical, intellectual and social development if they could not move? That is what life was like for 4-year-old Gigi, shown at top right, until this spring. Her mom said that before we met Gigi, she spent the majority of the last 3 years watching TV and occasionally reaching out for a toy. Still, like every kid, Gigi would love to race around and play with her brother and sisters. Unfortunately, Gigi has a degenerative muscle condition that makes that nearly impossible for her. Now Gigi is zipping around her yard and neighborhood in her new hot rod. As you can see, she is thrilled to finally be able to explore on her own. Kids Are Waiting Right NowMillions of American kids are sidelined because they too have movement limitations. More than 96,000 kids in Missouri and Kansas alone have physical disabilities, according to a 2012 study from Child Trends. Together, we can be a driving force and give them the freedom to do what all kids should do - play. Why $207,610?It will cost $285,000 to build 70+ cars and to develop the new tech we are hoping to release this spring. We have raised $77,390 so far. So, we need to raise an additional $207,610 to get our kids racing. Get InvolvedIt takes a village – maybe even a small city – to fulfill our mission to build as many customized, electric cars and other assistive devices for kids with mobility limitations as we can. Whether you are an engineer, software developer, roboticist, mechanic, physical therapist, marketer, designer, fundraiser, project manager, seamstress , corporate sponsors, individual donors and other good-hearted souls to rise to the challenge. To build great cars that empower lots of little kids, we need you! There are so many ways to get involved in Geeks for Kids. You can:

LEARN Science & Math Club is a non-profit that has been providing kids with rich, hands-on STEM experiences since 2004. Last Year's StatsIn the 2023 Geeks for Kids Build season, our team of Super Geeks did themselves proud. Over the course of 12 months, our all-volunteer management team of 21 people combined with the power of 270 volunteers, 25 corporate sponsors and dozens of individual donors like you:
This Year's PlanWe are happy to report that the 2024 Geeks for Kids build season is already off to a roaring start. As of this writing (on September 4, 2023), we have hosted a Build event and built 8 new cars. In the next three weeks, we will host our next Build and our annual All Abilities Trunk or Treat and Fall Delivery Day. In addition, our Super Geeks have so many exciting new things under development. They are designing;
We are on track to meet our goal of getting 70+ kids with movement limitations racing by July of 2024. Together, we can turbocharge this year and deliver more cars to more kids than ever before!
| The CostOur cars cost $3,175 on average to build. The kids and their families, however, pay nothing. We need your help to make sure every kid who applies for a car gets one! The more money we raise, the more cars we can build. Together, we can get kids with movement limitations racing! Join the campaign today.
Of course, every dollar helps! We bundle together small donations to build big dreams. As the list above shows, we can do a lot with donations of just about any size. Time to Get 2024's Kids Racing!
Two-year-old Atlas is ready for big things. (He can't race around on his own easily, though, because his body just won't do what he wants to do.) He’s next in line for his own car. Let's give him the #Power2Play! |
