As the art and film teacher at Beaverton Academy of Science and
Engineering (BASE), it has been wonderful to see our programs
expanding. In this upcoming year, we will be adding three all-new art
classes, including AP Art.
Despite the expansion in art classes, our art budget has shrunk significantly. I have been able to stretch our budget in the past, but this year I need to add new items and replace some things that are malfunctioning after years of use.
Donating to our program will help my students achieve even greater success. Funds will be used to purchase costumes, for film class and for my new pirate-themed figure drawing unit (Fig-Arrr Drawing). Audio equipment will be used to continue creating amazing music videos in our recording studio and to make more award-winning news stories for PBS Student Reporting Labs - we've had two of our reports broadcast nationally on PBS NewsHour. Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom projects, summer and after-school programs.
