Jennifer barker hasn't added a story.
In October 2021, I was diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome). In April 2022, Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia (IST) was added to my diagnoses. In 2009, my son was born and immediately from an MRI, we found out he had hemi-megalencephaly (half of his brain was enlarged), lisencephaly (smooth brain), and cortical dysplasia. He also was thought to have a genetic condition called Hypomelanosis of Ito (a neurocutaneous syndrome indicative of depigmentation along the lines of Blaschko), which was later confirmed and became his primary diagnosis. Having both of these conditions together are extremely rare, come with an array of symptoms, and put him at high risk for seizures. He in fact developed severe drug resistent epilepsy, and at 3 months old was transported to Cleveland Clinic in Ohio to a full anatomical hemispherectomy (removal of half his brain). We spent 70 days in Cleveland, away from my other children, my husband, and friends/family.
This was the beginning of my health downfall...I ate nothing but hospital food, was extremely sedentary because I sat at my sons bedside (which was a small annex "room", and stress ensued me as I had no control over what was going on. When we finally got back to Florida, I was extremely obese, stressed, and sleep deprived. I also later found out I acquired e-coli. I took care of my son day and night, dealt with surgeries, constant doctor appointments, while still trying to work (I eventually had to resign) and make sure my girls lives were still meaningful. For almost eight years, my body ran solely on determination. On November 5, 2017, my son had passed unexpectedly in the very early hours of the morning. For the first two years after his death, my sole goal was my husband and my girls well being...again, I put me on the sideburner. At this point, I realized I was again neglecting myself, my physical and mental health, and was still in the grieving process.
I decided that Blake would want me to be happy and healthy and began trying to focus on my health with a goal to be healthier in my 40's then I was in my 30's. Well, all is good in theory because my body surely was protesting. I'd lose weight, gain weight, lose weight, then gain weight just by looking a something unhealthy (I joke, but that's what it certainly felt like). I've been working and fighting to feel like me again, but it has definitely been a rollercoaster to say the least. My practitioner who helped heal my gut, cleared unknown parasites, diagnosed my MTHFR deficiency, helped me find a way to get quality sleep, finally was at a cross roads on why my "body was so sensitive". She referred me over to Dr B at Deeper Healing and he believes he can help me reset my body, clear out the toxins that are the root of my ailments, and get me back to feeling like me. Unfortunately, it's an expensive process since insurance doesn't cover most of functional medicine, but clearly I need "DEEPER" help. Thank you for considering to donate to my fund. God Bless, Jenn
