A Greener Future is an environmental nonprofit that focuses on litter cleanup and prevention. Over the years we have determined that cigarette butts are the most frequently littered item we come across. In order to face this problem we came up with the Butt Blitz event. The goal is to pick up as many cigarette butts as possible across Canada on event day and raise awareness about the harm that these butts can cause to the environment, wildlife, and to humans. We make sure that all the butts collected are sent to TerraCycle so they can be recycled properly, preventing the toxins from entering out environment and contaminating our drinking water.

During our first event volunteers picked up 87,015 butts, we were very happy about this! At our second event the grand total was 122,800! Even better!! This year will be our third event and we're very optimistic that we'll break both of our previous records. We have more coordinators signed up than ever before! They're in almost every province across Canada and they're ready to kick some butt on May 6th! With a bigger event comes bigger costs. We would like to be able to send pocket ashtrays and event supplies to all our coordinators but we need funding to do so. We are looking to order 1,000 Braingarden pocket ashtrays that can be distributed at the events. We will also need funding to pay the shipping costs to get supplies to coordinators and to pay for marketing to help reach potential volunteers.

WE CHALLENGE YOU: If you're tired of seeing butts on the ground donate $1, if you've ever thrown a butt on the ground donate $2, heck if you're feeling generous donate $2 for each butt that may or may not have ended up on the ground throughout your smoking career. Don't worry you can donate anonymously so you won't be judged.

Our goal this year is to pick up 200,000 butts! With your support we'll make that happen!
