This Helping Paws campaign is a little different than those we've seen in the past. Corgi Dad (and Grandpa!) David recently contacted me about his girl Bambi.

"I am hoping that this reaches the right person that could possibly help me in the matter of a vet bill.

I am the proud owner of two Welsh Corgi's Yogi and Bambi. Bambi was pregnant, but her belly didn't show it. When it came time for Bambi to give birth, I sat up all night with her. I had to bring her to the vet in the morning where they did the xrays and found only one puppy, a big puppy that she could not give birth to. We tried all that they could do for her but they had to do a c-section for the birth of that one puppy.

I am writing because I am a giving person. I've volunteered at the Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary in Punta Gorda, Florida for many months now, giving my time to help their many animals in need...lions, tigers, and oh yes bears.

They did the operation and the vets bills are adding up to such a high amount that I'm very worried about being able to keep my home going while I try to pay on this bill. I am not a healthy man and only my love for my two Corgis keeps me going. I have had 4 heart attacks in the past 4 years, one open heart operation triple bypass, and three stint operations as well. My heart medications are costly and I have been on disability for about a year. I have a fixed income.

Please, if you could, help me in this matter of the vets bills for Bambi. Thank you for your consideration in this most important matter in my life. I have no way to get my medications and support my home while I try to pay this vet bill off."

David more than qualifies for assistance, so we've set Bambi's fundraising goal to $1,390 to cover her bills and the PayPal and Fundrazr fees. Bambi has been spayed to avoid this happening in the future, and also to reduce the risk of cancer and other health problems. Please spread the word for this sweet girl and her new puppy, Pebbles!
