Hello friends and family,  I had the opportunity to spend a week in Jamaica this past June and I found what felt to be another home there. It's really strange how a week in another land can grip your heart so much but it can. Jamaica is a beautiful island, but it's truly the people there that I saw beauty in. I've never be in love before but most of my facebook friends are "older" so, in thinking you all have been in love before, I'm going to relate this story to those feelings. You feel a little breathless when you love someone. You smile differently, more sincere. You're happy, one of the most important things you can ever be. That's how I feel when I think and talk about kids I have shared moments with. The picture I chose to use for this is a picture of me and a little boy I met while in Jamaica. I don't know his name. I asked repeatedly but he was very shy and never told me. He just smiled or laughed at me every time I asked. So, I spent the next couple hours with him anyways because clearly he is a cutie and I felt like letting a 4 year old paint a homeless shelter with me was a great idea. I had to cover up just about every spot he painted because he liked to splatter it or make very uneven strokes. I didn't mind because really I expected nothing much by way of his "skill". There was even a point during that day where he found some garden clippers laying on the ground and we ran around cutting grass instead of doing our work. I had one of the best days with this nameless kiddo, that I now refer to as "noname" (pronounced no-nah-me). Saying it like that gave him a name! Eventually I had to say goodbye to him and though I may never see him again I'll forever have that day in my memory. I guess I told you this story so you could understand that I love really easy and there is no one who receives love better than children. And if this makes any sense at all I believe they're the ones that need it the most. It's really hard to be unhappy when you feel loved, and the younger you are when you start to see how much you are loved, the more happy years you have under your belt. With all that being said, I've been extremely blessed to have an opportunity to go back to Jamaica at the being of the new year. I'm going to be interning in a childrens home (Robin's Nest Children's Home---"like" them on facebook to see more about where I am going) for about 2 months doing a lot of random jobs but most importantly just loving the kids. Okay now to the asking for support. This is hard, but mom says it is okay if I do it. The bottom line is, I am 18 finishing up high school and in 8 classes so to graduate early in December. I have a part time job with the YMCA. I would happily sell items if I owned much, but I don't. I have used my earnings to pay for airfare, but I still need to pay for my personal stay in the children's home. Though it is awkard for me, I am asking for support from you family and friends. Thank you for even the smallest of donation. Anything will be of great help. It means the world to me. Love you all.
