Constantine Efstratiou hasn't added a story.
I don't usually do this sort of thing, but when I heard about Ryan's opportunity, I had to. For those of you who know Ryan, know that he is a very gifted actor/ singer and performer. There is only one thing Ryan is passionate about. Being on stage. Actually, that's not true. Ryan loves everything there is about putting on a performance as much as he loves the actual performance. I don't know what goes into putting on a production, but I just remember Ryan always volunteering late at night and on weekends to paint stages, help with costumes, lighting, sound, whatever was needed Ryan would make it his priority to be involved.
When I think back to his younger years and seeing the home performances he would put on with his cousins for the family and going to his plays in middle school and high school, we all would say "This is what he should do for a living."
After giving a more "traditional education" a shot at Sam Houston State, it was even more apparent to Ryan and those closest to him, that he had to pursue his dream of the Performing Arts. Ryan explored several options and applied to one of the nation's most renowned school of the Performing Arts. AMDA in NYC. The following is from their website www.amda.edu
"Founded in 1964 by Philip H. Burton – the actor and instructor best known for helping launch the career of his adopted son, Richard Burton – AMDA was born with a simple but powerful idea: to create a school run by professional performers, for performers. Emerging from the vibrant arts scene of 1960s Manhattan, the school quickly established itself as an integral part of the New York performing arts community and garnered early support from members of the Broadway theatre elite, such as Sammy Davis Jr., Dina Merrill and Carol Channing.
That same year, AMDA staged its first fundraising gala, World Enough and Time, starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in her Broadway debut. Over the next two decades, the school became widely known for its critically acclaimed fundraising productions – including all-star tributes to such luminaries as Stephen Sondheim, Jule Styne, Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter – which featured numerous stage and screen icons, such as Angela Lansbury, Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler and Kevin Kline. During this period, veteran actors Tyne Daly and Paul Sorvino also graduated from the conservatory."
The school is so well renowned and respected, that over 40,000 applicants apply each year. Of those 40,000 only 25% of that are offered an invitation to audition. Of those 10-12 thousand only 850 students are accepted. Ryan is one of those 850!! At AMDA Ryan will not only receive the best formal training, he'll be working with some of the industry's most respected professionals and he'll be living in the city where BROADWAY will be his back yard!
John Lennon once said "If I'd lived in Roman times, I'd have lived in Rome. Where else? Today America is the Roman Empire and New York is Rome itself."
What Ryan needs now is financial help to make his dream become reality. Tuition and NYC life is expensive and he will need money for the daily living expenses of NYC. So, we Ryan's friends and family are asking all of our Facebook Family to contribute whatever you can. Every kid deserves the chance to pursue their dreams and as the old saying goes "It takes a village." Be part of Ryan's village and contibute what you can. So please, reach deep and help this exceptional person "Live His Passion".
With Love,
Ryan's Fan Club
