We are four Irish guys who moved from Ireland to Dallas, Texas, Niall Bishop, Greg Devlin, Sean Conroy and Micheal Cahill. Like most young adults, including Mary, we dreamed of travelling the world, embarking on new advertures, meeting new people and making memories that will last us a life time. We were fortunate enough to be able to start our journey; we had the choice to come to the states, to pick up and start fresh, but unfortunately some people are not so lucky. Mary Philbin was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which affects the throat and nose. She was just nineteen, and in her first year of college. After years of battling numerous aggressive courses of radiation she survived her terrible diagnosis but now lives with life altering side affects.

Her salivary glands were destroyed, she can’t eat any solid food due to scar tissue in her throat. She has a condition similar to lockjaw and breathes with difficulty. Last July, she learned of another serious complication; liquid was seeping into her lungs. Treatment for that condition has caused new issues. Mary’s doctors in Ireland and the UK said they have taken her treatment as far as possible.

Mary never gave up, she wanted better, she wanted a normal life full of possibilities and hope, no more operations, no more complications. Her research led her to the United States, to Dr. Christopher Sullivan at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Sullivan has performed several innovative nasopharyngeal surgeries and agreed to work with Mary. With all medical procedures there are immense costs involved and with all the families savings depleted we feel this charity cycle can help Mary on her way to her necessary procedures. We are cycling 220 miles from Austin to Dallas to aid this cause, although a demanding task it barely scratches the surface of what Mary has had to endure over the past eight years. Please take the time to make a donation to help make Mary's cause.
