This is a completely optional, totally appreciated option for friends who've asked to toss coins into the party warchest.

This is not a crisis or an emergency. This is about as frivolous as it gets. If you're looking for a good cause to donate money to, please move along!

So I turn 39 years old tomorrow and am having my big annual house party. A few of my friends — both those attending the shindig and those who live far away — have asked how they can chip in to help defray the expenses. This is the equivalent of a "beer money" bucket at the door for those who want to chip in.

Again, the party is on. We have almost everything needed already. No one needs to feel obligated to put any money in the pot, but any that's tossed in the virtual bucket is appreciated and is helpful.

What's the money going toward? A keg of beer, red solo cups, Jamie's Delicious BBQ Meatballs, chips, dips, crudité platter and unhealthy ranch and bleu cheese dressings, juices, sodas, and my lovely bartender. (Just kidding on that last one ... she's free!)

Again, I want to stress that no one should feel obligated to donate to the party. I just wanted to provide an easy means for those who wanted to do so. It's become an annual tradition!

P.S. Since we don't have a specific amount needed but the website asked for a "goal" I just picked $25 as a random number. It doesn't matter how little or much it ends up being. Every little bit helps!
